If you know Spring in Wilmington, Delaware (Philadelphia Metropolitan Area), you know it can be one of two things. Green, lush, and beautiful -OR- brown, dreary, and glum. I knew I needed a Spring Family Photo Hack incase my upcoming sessions ended up falling during the latter part of the season. I fell in love with the Pinterest photos of flower-filled picnic baskets and basket backpacks. The problem… basket backpacks were WAY over budget. The solution…DIY!
Flower Back Pack for Less than $30
Ok, something you should know about me is that a significant % of my DIY projects are flops. However, this one was surprisingly simple! & I think it turned out pretty cute..
It would be perfect hack for any mamas out there looking to do a Spring themed photoshoot at home!
Here’s what I used:
-Bag straps x 2 (Amazon Linked)
-Wall hanging basket (on sale at Michaels)
-Zip Ties
-Scissors
The Process:
1. Put one end of your shoulder strap in the bottom, of your basket (off centered to the left). Use a Ziptie to secure (cut the excess, and it’s virtually invisible). Repeat with the second strap, but place off centered to the right.
2. Use a Ziptie to create a loop inside the basket, on the flat side. Repeat for both straps (one loop off-centered to the left and the second off-centered to the right).
3. Clip the loose end of the straps to the interior basket loops…viola! You now have functional straps.
4. Make adjustments based on your preference…
-Since I wanted my basket to be a kid-friendly size, I used the buckle to make the straps smaller.
-I didn’t like excess strap flapping around so I cut it to make it look neater.
-Extra zipties will help to secure the strap if they seem too loose (add them to the flat side of the basket).
