This summer I added a new spot to the list of my favorite family photoshoot locations in Wilmington, Delaware – The Nemours Estate! 

I’ve taken my children to the Nemours Children’s Health offices a million times … all the while having no idea this hidden gem was just a few feet away! When the Herrero family asked to do their milestone session at the Nemours Estate, I was excited to explore somewhere new. 

WOW, was I blown away! The Nemours Estate was a photographer’s dream. There are huge, beautiful trees that make a background of lush greenery. Strategically planned gardens. Ponds with bridges. Fountains, statues, and TONS of leading lines that make for fun composition. Last but not least, my personal favorite, so many beautiful light colored structures and stone walkways. These spots not only look beautiful but reflect flattering light back onto clients for picturesque skin tones.

This one is definitely a location worth considering when deciding on the best family photoshoot locations in Wilmington, Delaware. Let me breakdown the pros and cons: 

THE PROS:

-There is such a plethora of great spots, that I’m confident you could take beautiful photos in any type of lighting scenario mother nature throws at us that day

-Room for children to roam and run

-A fun place to stick around and explore with your family after the photo session ends. You’re permitted to bring your own food and drinks, so you could even have a little picnic!

THE CONS:

-There is a good amount of walking, so make sure you’re up for that. Most places are stroller accessible!

-There is an entrance fee to get in. Check the prices here. I loved this spot so much that I bought an annual pass so that I can enjoy it with my own family throughout the year.

-We have to plan our session around the hours the Estate is open. Unfortunately in the summer this means we won’t be able to do golden hour sessions.
